Hello there, wanderers of the Internets. Boy, it had been a long time since I’ve updated. The other people in my gentleman’s agreement haven’t really updated either. So, I guess it is up to me to shock some life back into the system. Alright everyone, we are now charging the pads. The charge is holding steady at 10%.
First on the agenda, I want to talk about what’s happening to my site. Of the small crowd (and boy do I mean small) that reads this blog, you may or may not have noticed my website looking a little… different? I’ve completely redesigned the site. The 8bit theme, while awesome, it completely failed as a professional site (as I don’t have any 8bit games or music hosted on my site). So I went ahead and designed a very minimalist look for the site. Now, worry not, the 8bit theme is not dead. It will come back in the near future. Which leads me on to the next topic. The charge is holding steady at 35%.
As an exercise to get my head back into Javascript, I am building a theme switcher for my site. It is partly inspired by CSS Zen Garden, which is an incredible site for showing the power of CSS. I’m going to be doing something similar, but using Javascript to construct the switcher panel and dynamically switch out the external CSS files. So while the default theme will be the minimalist design, other designs, including the 8bit theme, will be added. I recommend other people try creating different designs using only CSS and a fixed xHTML structure. It is a very fun exercise. The charge is holding steady at 60%.
Next, I want to talk about PortMS. I used to call this “PMS”, but thankfully from the very beginning, I had no desire to keep it. I changed the name to PortMS (Portfolio Management System) because, I still want the name to indicate its function but not make it inappropriate. “PortMS” seemed like a logical choice. So you want to see PortMS in action? Check out the portfolio on my site. That is PortMS running it. PortMS is still in testing and I need to get more feedback from my friends/testers before I release it into the wild. But my portfolio entry for it does have pictures of the admin-side to PortMS. I will have a project page for this up soon. The charge is holding steady at 80%.
Considering how long it has last been since I’ve posted anything, I am so tempted to start blogging politics. It would give me a lot to talk about. However, I think I will continue my policy of refraining from that. There is an endless multitude of political opinion blogs on the internet right now; mine really doesn’t need to be one of them. So I will keep my blog about my personal endeavors and whatever else interests me. The charge is holding steady at 90%.
So, with that, I will wrap up this post. Watch for upcoming changes to my web site and keep an I peeled for when I release PortMS. So I shall return to working on the theme switcher and coming up with more alternative designs to my website. The charge is at 100%. Let’s shock some life into the system! CLEAR! There. Brandon, Ian, the ball is in your court (we are, after all, playing 3-way tennis).
